The story takes place in a dystopian future where the world's most violent and deadly prisoners are forced to participate in a high-stakes racing tournament known as the "Death Race". The main character, Frankenstein (played by Robert Patrick), is a former cop who is framed for a crime he didn't commit and is sent to a maximum-security prison where he is forced to participate in the deadly racing tournament.
